About Astronomy Translation |

||||||||
Translation services specifically for the astronomy, aerospace and astrophysics sectors Astronomy Translation was set up in 2010 as an offshoot of successful Newbury-based translation agency Languages Today. Run by Gus Kenyon, Languages Today has been providing professional translation services to businesses throughout the UK and abroad for four years. Gus himself is a highly experienced linguist, with a Joint Honours Degree in French and Latin, a Diploma in Translation from the Chartered Institute of Linguists, membership of the Institute of Translators and Interpreters (ITI) and many years’ experience as a professional translator and linguist. Gus’s other main passion is astronomy and space science. He has been active in this field for over 20 years, as a member of the British Astronomical Association, a member of Newbury Astronomical Society and an active amateur observer. A published astronomy writer, Gus has worked on and overseen a large number of translation projects that have required specific knowledge of astronomy and space science, including work for a German-based aerospace agency, collaboration with a Paris-based publisher of astronomy books, and translation of numerous historical scientific documents written in Latin.
Astronomy Translation was born out of an increasing synergy between
these two fundamental areas of Gus’s expertise. There are ambitious
plans to sextuple the size of the UK space industry in the next two
decades, from £6bn to £40bn*. Astronomy Translation plans to support
that process. Astronomy Translation combines resources in terms of
knowledge and capability of commercial translation, involving almost
every major European and Asian language, with detailed knowledge of
astronomy, space science and astrophysics, to offer a range of
specialist language services dedicated to supporting companies,
organisations and publications involved in the astronomy,
astrophysics and aerospace sector. We are, we believe, the only
translation agency in the UK to do so in such a focused manner. Talk to Astronomy Translation about all your astronomy and aerospace translation needs.
